Two Salt Lake City businesses participating in Sip & Savor are inviting Utahns to experience distinctive flavors while connecting with the people around them.
Killa Nikkei introduces diners to Nikkei cuisine, which emerged from the blending of Japanese and Peruvian culinary traditions. Peru is home to one of the largest Japanese diasporas in the world. José described the restaurant’s approach: "Our fusion, it’s more towards Peruvian food than Japanese, but I would say it’s the Peruvian flavors with Japanese technique and Japanese precision. That’s what we intend to do," José said.
Meanwhile, The Tasting Room offers hundreds of wines, customizable wine flights, cocktails and nonalcoholic options. Owner Ryan Crafts said the experience is ultimately about more than what is served. "At its best, food and wine brings people together. And that’s what I hope happens for people at the Tasting Room, is that they get to drink something delicious, but laugh with their company," Crafts said.
Both establishments are among the 38 businesses featured in Sip & Savor’s six-week dine-around, continuing through October 10. There will be festival finale on Sunday, October 11 at Log Haven in Millcreek Canyon. To learn more about the dine-around and festival visit sipandsavor.com.
The festival is organized by MIllcreek City Lifestyle and its publisher Julie Janke along with partners. Click here for an interview with Julie Janke and Carlos Toledo, organizers of Sip & Savor.
