Pablo Tellechea conversó con María Guadarrama, creadora de Libro Fest SLC, porque vio la necesidad de crear una feria del libro bilingüe en Utah.
“Sabes que muchas de nuestras generaciones ahorita quizás venimos de familias latinas, pero ya la segunda tercera generación… hay niños que están perdiendo el español". Además, María dijo que "ver libros bilingües accesibles puede abrir esa posibilidad de que un niño se pueda sentar con su abuelito, sus papás y pueda leer ambos el mismo libro en español o en inglés.”
Esta primera feria del libro bilingüe se lleva a cabo mañana sábado 25 de abril en el Sorenson Community Center en Glendale de las 11 a. m. hasta las 5 p. m. Para más información, visite librofestslc.org.

Libro Fest 2026: Utah's Bilingual Book Fair
Avanza's Pablo Tellechea spoke with María Guadarrama, creator of Libro Fest SLC, about why she saw the need to create a bilingual book fair right here in Utah.
“You know that many of our generations right now may come from Latino families, but by the second or third generation… there are children who are losing their Spanish.” María also said that “access to bilingual books can open up the possibility for a child to sit with their grandparents, their parents, and both read the same book in Spanish or in English.”
This first bilingual book fair will take place tomorrow, Saturday, April 25, at the Sorenson Community Center in Glendale from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit librofestslc.org.
