During a special edition of Línea Abierta, broadcast live from KUER and Avanza 88.3 studios and heard on more than 100 public radio stations nationwide, Program Director Edgar Zúñiga spotlighted the mission of Utah’s new bilingual public radio station.
“We offer a different format: public radio without commercial interruptions,” Edgar said. “We air high-quality programming from Radio Bilingüe, along with local content focused on community issues and public affairs, in both English and Spanish, for a bilingual, bicultural audience of all generations and from across the Latino community, whether Mexican, Venezuelan, or wherever we come from.”
Zúñiga emphasized the need for a station like this in Utah, where “the Latino population has grown exponentially… and we still don’t have the representation we need.”
“Every time I go to a community event,” Edgar added, “people tell me, ‘I’ve been wanting to hear something like what I hear on your station for years in Utah.’”

Durante una transmisión especial de Línea Abierta desde los estudios de Avanza 88.3, Edgar Zúñiga, director de programación, compartió con la audiencia nacional —más de 100 estaciones públicas en todo el país— la misión de esta nueva emisora en Utah:
“Ofrecemos un formato diferente: radio pública sin interrupción comercial”, explicó. “Transmitimos programación de alta calidad de Radio Bilingüe, además de contenidos locales sobre asuntos comunitarios y temas públicos, en inglés y español, para una audiencia bicultural, bilingüe, de diferentes generaciones y de toda la comunidad latina, sea mexicana, venezolana o de donde sea que vengamos”.
Zúñiga subrayó la necesidad de un medio así en Utah, donde “la población latina ha crecido de una manera exponencial… y aún no tenemos la representación que necesitamos”.
“Cada vez que voy a un evento comunitario,” añadió, “la gente me dice: ‘He querido oír algo como lo que oigo en su estación desde hace años en Utah’”.
